Gloria Caouette Ogni, 88, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24th, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pawtucket, RI, and lived out most of her life in Central Falls. She was the daughter of the late Alice and George Caouette and the beloved wife of Arthur Ogni Sr. Gloria and Arthur would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on September 6th.
Gloria lived in her adored city of Central Falls for 58 years. There she raised her five children and was also a crossing guard. She was a cherished waitress at Chelos for thirteen years. You could always find her being an active member of the community and was part of the Crime Stoppers group. She loved bingo, bowling, playing cards, and Twin River Casino. She was our lady of luck! She was the matriarch of the family. Gloria lived for her family and friends. She was the life of every gathering. Her dancing, singing, home-cooked meals, and contagious laugh always made you feel right at home whenever you stepped foot into her house. Gloria was a delight to have in life and her vibrant spirit radiated through in everything she did.
She leaves behind five children, Cheryl Ogni Thornton (Charles), Artie Ogni (Lisa), Rene Ogni (Yolanda), Bruce Ogni (Karyn), and Paula Ogni. She also leaves ten grandchildren, Kristen Ogni Gabriele, Nicholas Ogni, Kyle Ogni, Justin Ogni, Hennessy Ogni, Rene Ogni Jr, Audrey Ogni, Jake Ogni, Dylan Ogni, and Tyler Ogni. Three great-grandchildren, Alexis Gabriele, Anthony Gabriele, and Sophia Ogni. Two great-great-grandchildren, Carter Rae Gabriele and Tatum O’Rourke. She is pre-deceased by twelve brothers and sisters. She was the last sibling left of the Caouette family.
A very special thank you to mom's primary nurse Shannon Choquette, CNA Maria Hernandez, and the many other nurses and CNAs that took care of mom for the last two years. We can't thank you enough for the good care and support you gave to mom and our family.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Amedisys Beacon Hospice. 1 Catamore Blvd East Providence, RI 02914.The family requests the wearing of masks as you go through the receiving line.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, May 31st in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln from 4pm-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 1st directly at Holy Spirit Church, 1030 Dexter St. Central Falls at 9:30am. Burial will be private.
